Description

Illustrated, Uncommon

Founded in 1879 for the international Theosophical Society based in Adyar, India, The Theosophist still runs to the day, and features articles on occultism, philosophy, art and literature. 

Lacking a title page.

Illustrated with a colour plate depicting the founder of the Theosophical Society, H. S. Olcott, as well as in-text illustrations and plates.. With the remnants of a folding map as to the front endpaper. 

With the contemporary ownership inscription of Bernard Old, dated 1928; a library stamp for the Liberal Holis Church, Birmingham to the first page.

Condition

In a full cloth binding. Externally rather worn; backstrip is lifting at the head of the spine, which is cockled. Boards are sprung, with bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, binding is tender, with binding exposed at pages 2 and 3. Otherwise generally firm. Pages are a touch age-toned to the edges.
