What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First appearing in a privately printed edition in 1901, and in a trade edition in 1902, this is a charming early edition of Potter's beloved work, dated 1909 via the presence of Quinby plate VII endpapers.

A bright copy of an uncommon early edition of the beloved tale of Peter Rabbit, following the young Peter as he is chased through Mr. McGregor's garden.

Illustrated with twenty-seven colour plates in Potter's signature style. Collated, complete.

With the inscription of M. Sargant to the front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Bumping to spine head and tail, with small losses to perimeters of pictorial onlay to front board. Front hinge a touch strained, but holding firm. Inscription to front free endpaper. Tape reinforcement running the length of the gutter between a front blank and the recto of the frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd mark. Tape to the illustration on page 71 has been partially removed, resulting in small losses to the illustration, and the text of the facing page. Further light losses to pages 84 and 85.
