What Our Customers Say...
Colour Plates, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
Scarce work. A collection of short stories portraying idealised English Christmas festivities the author had experienced while staying in England, including: The Old Stage Coach, The Old Christmas, The Old Christmas Eve, The Old Christmas Day, and The Old Christmas Dinner. Illustrated with colour tipped in frontispiece, title page, and fifteen plates. Collated complete. Written by Washington Irving, an American essayist, biographer, historian, short-story writer, and diplomat. Illustrated by Henry Matthew Brock, a British illustrator and landscape painter.
In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light age toning to the endpapers.
