First edition. Illustrated throughout with 130 illustrations and a fold-out plan to the rear. The story of the development of the sailing ship, from ancient times to contemporary vessels. Written by Edward Keble Chatterton, a prolific English writer who published approximately one hundred books, pamphlets and magazine series, mainly on maritime and naval themes.

Condition

In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the plate. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light scattered spotting to the edges.
