Written by Lilian Gask, an author of works for children, primarily regarding animals, with her other titles including 'Holidays with our Pets', 'Pig Tales', and 'With Nature's Children'.

Illustrated by Dorothy Hardy with plates and in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

The first edition of this work.

Awarded as a French prize, with the inscription dated July 1910; the recipient's name has been removed.

A delightful work regarding the zoo for children.

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Prize inscription to the verso of the front endpaper; this is offset onto the front blank. Internally, binding is occasionally tender, with a strain to the front hinge after the title page. Binding is exposed at pages 33 and 34, 48 and 49, and 144 and 145. Pages are a little age-toned at the edges.
