The first edition of this volume published in 1908. 

Estelle Ross explores the history and art held at the Wallace Collection and the Tate Galleries in London. 

The Wallace Collection is named after Sir Richard Wallace, who built the immense collection; it contains fine art and decorative arts from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, including important French pieces from the eighteenth century. 

The Tate Galleries were founded in 1897 as the National Gallery of British Art. To this day, it features the United Kingdom's national collection of British art, as well as international modern and contemporary art. 

This volume contains numerous illustrations reproduced from photographs taken by Messrs Mansell and Co. Collated, complete. 

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, illustrated to the front board. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With Millicent Anwyl Wight-Boycott's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The occasional faint odd spotting to the odd leaf, otherwise the pages are bright and clean throughout. Illustrated with numerous full page plates. Collated, complete.
