The first edition, first impression of this work, with '[All Rights Reserved]' printed beneath the year of publication to the title page.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and seventeen further full colour plates, alongside numerous vignette illustrations, all from Potter. Collated, complete.

In 1926, the work was re-titled 'The Tale of Samuel Whiskers'.

With the contemporary inscription of Nancy Collier to the front free endpaper.

The true first edition of this delightful tale from Beatrix Potter, detailing Tom Kitten's escape from two rats who plan to make him into a pudding.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Shelf wear to back strip head and tail, with light discolouration to back strip. Rubbing to fore edge of front board. Inscription to front free endpaper. Title page loosely attached to tail only. Internally, firmly bound. Light handling marks throughout, with some areas of significant spotting, most concentrated to half title and final few leaves.
