Bertram Lenox Simpson, who wrote under the pen name B L Putnam Weale, was a British author who was heavily involved in Chinese politics in the late 19th and early 20th century. His most famous work, Indiscreet Letters from Peking, claimed to be an eyewitness account of the events of the siege of the Legations in 1900, although many scholars have discredited this.
