An early edition, dated 1907, with dots in the O's to the front board, Quinby Plate III endpapers, and without the plate of Mrs McGregor to the plate facing page 14, and 'shed' to page 51.
One of the most popular children's work's ever published, 'Peter Rabbit' follows the mischievous and disobedient young bunny as he falls into trouble with Mr. McGregor.
Beautifully illustrated in colour in Potter's typical style, with a colour frontispiece, twenty-six colour plates.

Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with only a few light marks to the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a very small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is broken. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright with a few minor marks and spots, including to the frontispiece. Frontispiece is lifting a little to the tail. Small patch of wear to page 44 and 45, affecting a small amount to the plate and text.
