'The Building News' was founded in 1854, running until 1926 when it was merged with 'The Architect', forming 'The Architect and Building News'. An important periodical, it offers an interesting insight into the developments in architecture during the year, with in-depth articles on various prominent buildings being built or proposed.

Illustrated with eighty-two double paged plates, fifty plates, and many in-text illustrations.

This volume includes plans of Westminster Abbey, the Children's Hospital in Sunderland, Plymouth Art Galleries Museum & Public Libraries, the Failsworth Public Library, and more.

Including articles on the Manchester Blind Asylum, Glastonbury Abbey, asbestos wood, Canterbury Cathedral, the rebuilding of London, Yeovil Water Supply, the National Trust Bill, and more.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Minor bumping to the spine and extremities. Spine is faded. Light marks to the boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the occasional handling mark. Textblock is cocked. The first double paged page following page 584 has a part excised, lacking almost half of the plate.
