1907 Sporting Days: A Book for Visitors and House Parties
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Uncommon
An uncommon work.
This 1907 publication consists of forty-seven thick card leaves with printed illustrations from over twenty illustrators, with blank spaces intended to be filled by the photographs of the owner of the work.
Thirty-six contemporary photographs are mounted and loosely inserted.
Many of these photographs, which offer a fantastic insight into sporting and outdoor pursuits in the early twentieth century, depict horses and dogs, while others included images of motor vehicles and horses and carts.
A number of photographs depict large gatherings of foxhounds, preparing for hunts.
The printed illustrations include examples from C. E. Brock, Arthur Rackham and Lancelot Speed, with many being the work of Cecil Aldin.
