The first edition of this scarce work.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and fifty further colour plates from the author herself, Maud Umfreville Clarke. With further vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.

Arranged by month and season, this work considers and described the seasonal blooms of various gardens, including the wild garden of the English countryside. 

With a bright former owner's bookplate to the front pastedown, dated Christmas 1917.

In a decorative pictorial cloth binding.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, and board perimeters. Fading to head of front board. Front hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd light handling mark.
