Arnold Lupton (1846-1930) was a British Liberal Party MP, academic, mining engineer and a managing director of collieries. A controversial figure, he resigned as managing director of the Shirebrook Colliery Company in 1898, after a miners' strike because of poor working conditions and low wages. However, he continued as a consulting engineer and manager at other collieries and published many papers and three books on mining.
