The scarce first edition of this anthology of fairy tales by Harriett Parr, published under the pseudonym of Holme Lee. A series written with much Victorian sensibility, with contemporary themes to the characteristically moral tale of the time. A charming children's book delving into the world of fairy land, featuring elves, dwarves, grand balls, and more.
Richly illustrated in black and white in text, as well as with sixteen full page plates, by Reginald L. Knowles and Horace J. Knowles. Collated, lacking frontispiece. With half title.
With an introduction by Effie H. Freemantle.
A copy of this scarce first edition, which is held institutionally by three libraries only.
Condition
In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, minor closed tears to the joints. The spine has slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally very clean throughout with odd minor spotting to the occasional leaf and only a hint of age toning, as usual. Richly illustrated in black and white in text, as well as with sixteen full page plates, by Reginald L. Knowles and Horace J. Knowles. Collated, lacking frontispiece.
