A scarce first edition of the work in quarter morocco binding with cloth boards.

This work by Francois Martroye depicts the conquest of Africa led by Genseric, who was King of the Vandals from 428 to 477. The work explores how Genséric played a key role in the delicine of the Western Roman Empire during the 5th Century. Martroye incorporates details of Africa before the invasion, the invasion itself and the war against the Empire.

François Martroye was a leading 20th-Century historian on the subject.

With an Ex-Libris bookplate to front paste down.

Condition

In quarter morocco binding with red cloth boards. Externally very smart, with minor shelf wear to the extremities. Slight rubbing to extremities and to spine. Light bumping, mainly to head of spine. The occasional mark to endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Light age toning to pages.
