Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
Second edition of this work, published May 1907. Issued as part of the Haddan Hall library series, from the published J M Dent and Co. With illustrations and head and tails pieces by the English painter Lucy Kemp-Welch. Kemp-Welch was known for her paintings specialising in working horses, and for the illustrations for an edition of Anna Sewell's 'Black Beauty'. Topics discussed in this guide include fertility, crops, and livestock. Acquired from a sale of the publisher J.M Dent's reference library, with this work being a 'File Copy'. With File stamp to the recto of front endpaper, and pencil annotations to the front pastedown. Joseph Malaby Dent was a British book publisher best known for the Everyman's library series.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally smart, with some fading to the spine. Occasional light marks to the boards and the spine. Small amount of bumping to the head and the tail of spine in addition to the extremities. File stamp to the recto of front endpaper, and pencil notations to the front pastedown and recto of front endpaper. Front hinge is strained but firm. Binding in generally firmly bound but straining in places. Pages are bright, with some pages remaining uncut at foredge. The odd spots, firstly to the first and last few pages.
