Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First published in 1906 in four volumes, this being the first publication in one volume. Comprising the history of English fashion from early times through the Middle Ages and the reign of Tudor and Stuart, to the Georgian Era. Profusely and beautifully illustrated throughout by the author.

Condition

In the original publisher's decorative cloth, with titles stamped in gilt to front board and spine. Externally smart, with slight shelwear and bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Minor tear to cloth to head of spine, which is slightly faded, with gilt still visible. Inscribed by a previous owner to front free endpaper, dated Christmas 1914. Internally, binding is slightly loose to first few leaves, but firm throughout. Minor faint spotting to fore edge, not affecting pages that remain bright and clean. With seventy illustrations in colour, two in black and white, and numerous line drawings by the author throughout.
