The 'Waverley Novels,' also known as the 'Abbotsford series,' is a collection of novels by the immensely popular Sir Walter Scott. Waverley was Scott's first novel, published anonymously in 1814 when he was already an established poet. It is regarded as one of the first Western historical novels. He published his later novels anonymously under "the author of Waverley." 

Each volume contains an interesting introductory essay and notes by Andrew Lang.

Condition

In half morocco bindings. Externally very smart, with faint marks to the front boards and minimal rubbing to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page.
