The first edition of this work, illustrated with numerous full plate and vignette photographs of furniture, sculpture and textile art.

As explained to the start of this work, Talbot House of Cedarhurst, Long Island contains 'a collection of old furniture, wood carvings and other objects of art, which is likely to make this spacious and beautiful country residence famous'.

Furniture discussed includes a stone mantel of the Gothic period, and old Normandy praying-desk, and much seventeenth century Flemish furniture.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Boards exceptionally bright. Bumping to spine head and tail, with partially removed sticker to back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd handling marks.
