This is a handsomely bound, full leather copy of 'The Nelson Navy Book', written by Scottish biographer, author, and journalist, James Cuthbert Hadden. This is a prize binding and has a prize bookplate on the front pastedown: 'Royal Hospital School, Greenwich. Prize. Presented to: A.H. Smith of the 1st Class, 1st Div. Upper Nautical Sch. for 1st in Examination at the Annual Distribution on 23 July 1915.' It was awarded by E. Cooper, Captain, R.N. Superintendent and J.E. Evans B.A. Head Master. This book is a historical work on Nelson, Napoleon, and Wellington, and explores naval history.
Condition
Handsomely bound in full calf prize binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and shelf wear. Externally, joints starting but firm. Hinges slightly strained but firm. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Some spotting to the pages.
