1906 The Life, Letters and Work of Frederic
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
The first trade edition of Emilie Barrington's two volume biography of Sir Frederic Leighton, the prominent Victorian era painter, draughtsman and sculptor. His paintings were enormously popular, and expensive, during his lifetime, but fell out of critical favour during the early twentieth century.
Illustrated with eighty-one illustrations to volume I, and seventy-nine to volume II - present in one-hundred and fifty four plates - including mounted plates, colour plates and photogravures. Collated, complete.
Barrington was a British biographer and novelist, author of works such as 'Reminiscences of G. F. Watts', 'The Complete Works of Walter Bagehot' and 'Lena's Picture'.
Condition
