'Essays of Elia' is a collection of essays by Charles Lamb, which were first published in 'The London Magazine'. The subjects the essays are on vary greatly, but the conversational tone Lamb writes in charmed many readers.
Charles Lamb was a popular antiquarian and essayist, known for his work 'Tales from Shakespeare', which he co-authored with his sister.
With an introduction and notes by Alfred Ainger.

Condition
In a full calf prize binding. Externally, generally smart. Light fading to the spine and joints. Minor marks to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge is starting slightly but firm. Prize label to the front pastedown. Bookplate to the recto to the front endpaper. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just a few spots to the first and last few pages.
