An Important Work, First Edition, Illustrated, Rebound

A handsomely rebound copy of this volume comprising studies in the history and art of the Eastern Provinces of the Roman empire, complete with ten illustrations and frontispiece of 'The Great Hittite Altar.' 

Written to celebrate the four-hundredth birthday of the University of Aberdeen by seven of its graduates and edited by professor W. M. Ramsay.

Archeologist and historian David Talbot Rice bookplate to front pastedown, who also signed the volume in pencil to front endpaper.

Condition

Rebound in navy blue cloth, with decorative gilt to front board and titles stamped in gilt to spine. Externally very smart with minor shelfwear and edgewear, as well as slight bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Spine has slightly darkened but gilt remains visible. Internally, hinges are slightly strained but firm. Slight offsetting to free endpaper as usual due to the type of paper. Minor faint scattered spotting throughout. With archeologist and historian David Talbot Rice bookplate stamped to front pastedown. David Talbot Rice' signature in pencil to front free endpaper.
