The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. 32 plates of monochrome photographs taken by the author. Collated complete. This work is an ethnographical study, from Dudley Kidd's perspective, of the upbringing of children of the indigenous people of South Africa. It includes numerous photographs he took while travelling through South Africa.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with very minor bumping to the extremities, the boards and the head and tail of the spine. A couple of faint stains to the spine and front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spotting to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. The plate facing 116 is slightly creased at the edges.
