What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Limited Edition
The first limited edition of this work, limited to one-hundred and ten numbered copies, of which this is numbered twenty-three.
A charming topographical work on London, looking in particular at the area of Chelsea, and at the famous Paradise Row. This work acts as an ode to Paradise Row, as the last few remaining houses on the Row were demolished just a year before this work was published.
Paradise Row was a particularly bustling area in the Stuart era, where dwelt the Duchess of Mazarin, as did the Duke of St. Albans, a son of Nell Gwynne and King Charles II.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, one colour plate, one plan and forty-six monochrome plates.
Compiled by Reginald Blunt.
Prior owner's ink inscription and torn bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
