Gawdy was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1578, and sat in Parliament from 1589 until his death.
Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper and to the front pastedown, 'A L Rowse'.
With a folding family tree of the Gawdy family.
These letters are edited from the originals in the British museum with an introduction and notes by Isaac Hervert Jeayes. This is the first printing of Gawdy's letters.
Condition
In a quarter morocco binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing to the board edges. Spots to the boards. Prior owner's inscription to the front pastedown and to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright.
