The first English language edition, translated from the fifth German edition by H. W. Armit.

The work of Swiss myrmecologist, neuroanatomist, psychiatrist and eugenicist Auguste-Henri Forel, who is considered to be a co-founder of the neuron theory.

Forel presents 'A Study of Psychological, Psycho-Physiological and Therapeutic Aspects of Hypnotism', with discussion of consciousness, the hypothesis of identity, double consciousness, and suggestion in animals.

With a blind publisher's 'presentation copy' stamp to the title page.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, fraying to cloth of spine label. Bookseller's label to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Presentation blind stamp to title page. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
