What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
A first edition, with colour plate frontispiece to each volume, and numerous further colour and black and white plates.
The colourful plates of these volumes are the work of Stanley Inchbold, a relation of the author, known for his town and landscape paintings.
The author of this work, A. C. Inchbold, was more frequently a novelist than travelogue writer, publishing eight novels between 1899 and 1920. Here, she applies her elegant prose to a descriptive, and at times poetic, first person account of his travels in Syria and nearby regions.
With a publisher's advertisement to the rear of volume I.
To rear pastedown of both volumes is the label for 'The Times Bookclub'.
