Two first editions from Robert South - 'Butterflies' and 'Moths' series I - and a later edition, 'Moths' series II. 

Present here is the 1906 first edition of 'The Butterflies of the British Isles'. Illustrated with 127 plates, many of which are in colour. Collated, complete.

The first edition of the 1907 first series and a later 1909 second series of 'The Moths of the British Isles'. With 159 plates to volume I, and 159 to volume II, many of which are in colour. Collated, complete.

Former owner's inscriptions to Moths volumes front free endpapers.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth bindings. Externally, bright, with bumping to back strip head and tail, and light rubbing to joints. Light spotting to text block fore edges. Inscriptions to front free endpapers of Moths vols. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd spot.
