'London Churches Ancient & Modern', complete in two volumes. Volume I, 'Mediaeval & Early Renaissance', is illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-eight plates. Bound without the original illustrated endpapers. Volume II, 'Classical & Modern', is illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-two plates. Collated, complete. Undated, dated 1907 and 1908 respectively, from copies held at the British Library.

'Cathedrals of England & Wales', complete in three volumes. Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-three plates. Collated, complete. Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, and fifteen plates. Volume III is illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-one plates. Collated, complete. Volume I is dated 1907. Volume III is a second impression.

'Cathedrals & Churches of Belgium', complete in one volume. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-two plates. Collated, complete. Undated, dated 1909 from a copy held at the British Library.

Bumpus also published volumes in this series on Spain, Italy, and the Nordic countries.

Bookplate of Annie Cowdray to the front paste downs. Cowdray was a society hostess and suffragist, who has been nicknamed the "Fairy Godmother of Nursing", as she patronaged the Royal College of Nursing. 

From the library of W. A. Foyle at Beeleigh Abbey, with his morocco bookplate to the recto of the front endpapers. William Foyle was the co-founder of Foyles bookshop, founding the leading bookshop in 1903 alongside his brother. He purchased Beeleigh Abbey during the Second World War, an impressive twelfth century monastery in Essex, which became home to his library, one the largest private libraries in England.

Condition

In a full calf binding, bound by Bumpus. Externally, smart. A couple of very light marks and patches of rubbing go the leather. Spines are a little faded. Bookplate to the front paste downs, and to the recto of the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
