'Squirrel Nutkin' follows an impertinent red squirrel named Nutkin as he narrowly escapes from an owl named Old Brown.
Following the publication of 'Peter Rabbit' the year before, 'Squirrel Nutkin' became an instant hit upon publication.
Beautifully illustrated in colour in Potter's typical style, with a colour frontispiece, and twenty-five colour plates.
Collated, complete.
Condition
In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, lacking the back strip, with some lifting of paper to the joints. Very minor marks to the boards. Light bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is strained. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only a few occasional marks. Closed tear to the gutter of page 53.
