In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. All edges gilt. 28 plates, 8 colour plates including the frontispiece, and numerous illustrations in the text. Collated complete. This work contains 29 stories from various medieval and Renaissance romances of chivalry, adapted for children by Andrew Lang (1844-1912). It includes stories about Don Quixote, Charlemagne, Bevis of Hampton and Guy of Warwick, and is beautifully illustrated by Henry Justice Ford (1860-1941).

Condition

In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition, with very minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Colour is good and gilt is bright. Dust wrapper is in two parts, with tidemarks to the upper extremities and closed tears to the folds of the flaps. Some sunning to the spine, and chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for faint tidemarks to the paste downs and end papers, and the occasional spot and handling mark, with slightly more spotting to the end papers.
