Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition, first issue, with mottled lilac endpapers, and a comma after 'Joan' to the dedication, as called for in Quinby. First issue binding with a tabby cat onlay to the head of the front board.

A charming children's story about a cat named Ribby throwing a tea party for her friends, including a dog called Duchess.

Beautifully illustrated in colour in Potter's typical style, with a colour frontispiece and nine colour plates.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, lacking most of the back strip, with only two inches of the backstrip remaining. Light marks to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss of paper to the extremities. Internally, binding is strained. Pages are bright and generally clean with some light handling marks.
