The first edition, first impression.

With the first issue mottled lilac endpapers, as called for by Quinby, and a comma after 'Joan' on the dedication page to the recto of the half title. In the first issue binding, with a small pictorial cat onlay to the head of the front board.

A charming children's story about a cat named Ribby throwing a tea party for her friends, including a dog called Duchess.

Illustrated by Potter with a colour frontispiece and nine further colour plates, alongside vignette illustrations. Collated, complete.

With the inscription 'To Mary from Cicely, Christmas 1910' to the verso of the front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Lacking back strip. Boards bright and clean. Inscription to verso of front free endpaper. Internally, binding lightly strained throughout. Scattered instances of light spotting.
