Description

Colour Plates, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First edition.

A well presented book on the homes of Tennyson, focusing primarily on two of the Victorian poet's homes. The author, Arthur Paterson, visits and reflects upon his time visiting Farringford House and Aldworth. Tennyson was a large influence of the Pre-Raphaelites, and held the title of Poet Laureate for forty-two years during Victoria's reign.

Illustrations by Helen Allingham, a female watercolourist of the Victorian era, including a colour frontispiece and nineteen colour plates. These paintings are accompanied with information that shows each painting's relevance to Tennyson's topographical surroundings.

Ink dedication on recto of front free endpaper. Six pages of adverts to the rear.

Collated, complete.
