Edition de luxe. Limited to two hundred and fifty copies of which this is number one hundred and seventy-two. Signed by the author to the limited page. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and fifteen colour plates. Collated complete. A charming piece dedicated to the author's own gardens and favourite scenes in the English countryside, described with depth, taking delight in every individual petal. Written by Alfred Austin, an English poet who was appointed Poet Laureate in 1896. Illustrated by George Samuel Elgood, an English artist and illustrator known for his paintings of formal gardens.

Condition

In the original cream cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Fading to the spine and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot to the tissue guards. Scattered spotting and age toning to the endpapers.
