The first edition of William Hyde Kelly's study of the final major military action of the Hundred Days campaign and the Napoleonic Wars, the Battle of Wavre.
Taking place in June 1815, this battle kept thirty-thousand French soldiers under the command of Marshal Grouchy from reaching the Battle of Waterloo, thus helping defeat Napoleon.
Illustrated with three colour folding maps. Collated, complete.
With two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear, and a former owner's inscription, dated February 1948, to the front free endpaper.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Discolouration to cloth at title to front board, with light fading to head of front board. Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
