What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
A first edition of Spiritual Adventures, a collection of eight short stories by British poet and critic Arthur Symons. Symons was a prolific writer who frequently contributed poems and essays to the literary quarterly The Yellow Book, before becoming the co-editor of The Savoy magazine. Originally published in shorter form in the Yellow Book, Symon's monograph The Symbolist Movement in Literature had a major influence on William Butler Yeats and T. S. Eliot. The collection opens with the partially autobiographical 'Prelude to Life', which reconstructs Symons early days from the point of view of the mature aesthete, and includes 'Esther Kahn', which was developed into a film in 2000. Prior owners bookplate to front pastedown, 'Oliver Brett'.
Condition
