Henry Mills Alden was the editor of 'Harper's Magazine', where he worked with Laurence Hutton. Bookplate of Laurence Hutton to the recto to the front endpaper. A limited edition work, limited to one-hundred and fifty-two numbered copies, of which this is numbered one-hundred and one. A catalogue of the books found in the Hutton's libraries. They were ardent collectors of literary curiosities, so their library has remarkable interest. With a frontispiece. Laurence Hutton was an essayist and critic who worked as the literary editor of 'Harper's Magazine'. Catalogued, compiled, and collated by M. E. Wood.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter vellum binding. Externally, generally smart, though with some marking and dampstaining to the rear board. Some rubbing and discolouration to the spine, as is usual with vellum. A little rubbing to the gilt to the front board. Ink inscription to the front pastedown. Bookplate to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some tidemarks and the odd spot.
