The ninth edition of Hall Marks on Gold and Silver Plate by William Chaffers in the original publisher's cloth binding.
Illustrated with revised tables of annual date letters employed in the Assay Offices of England, Scotland and Ireland, to which is added A History of L'Orfevrerie Francaise.
Includes a monochrome plate as the frontispiece and a folding plate facing page 212 with a tissue guard which is detached.
The ninth edition has been extended and enlarged with the addition of 260 new date letters and marks and a bibliography. Edited by A. Markham.
Prior owner's ink inscription to the half title.
With gilt to the front board and spine.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and slight bumping to the extremities. The front hinge is strained. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half title. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean.
