An early edition of this work. Being a second impression of the new and cheaper edition. Illustrated, with a folding map and several vignettes. In the publisher's original binding. This work was formed from George Gissing's trip to Italy in 1897-1898. There are chapters on his time in Naples, Taranto, Cotrone and Catanzaro. George Gissing was a popular novelist, who wrote 23 novels over a twenty year period between 1880 and 1903. His best known novels include 'The Nether World', 'New Grub Street' and 'The Odd Woman'.
Condition
In a publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the joints and to the extremities. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional scattered spots to pages.
