First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-one plates. Collated complete. In the sequel to Haggard's extremely popular novel, She, the reader is plunged into a story set in Tibet after Horace Holly encounters a manuscript containing a second memoir about Ayesha. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. There are several variants to the first edition in terms of binding, this volume contains the following misprints as per the first edition: p.49 - "Khublighan" for "Khubilghan." p.207 - "heirophant" for "hierophant." As cited from "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1925" by J. E. Scott.

Condition

In the original blue cloth binding. Externally sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. A o.5" split to the cloth at the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting throughout. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1906.
