First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-one plates. Collated complete. In the sequel to Haggard's extremely popular novel, She, the reader is plunged into a story set in Tibet after Horace Holly encounters a manuscript containing a second memoir about Ayesha. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. There are several variants to the first edition in terms of binding. With the following misprints as per the first edition: p.49 - "Khublighan" for "Khubilghan." p.207 - "heirophant" for "hierophant." Condition
In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot and age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
