A smart first volume of A Staff Officer's Scrap-Book During the Russo-Japanese War, by Sir Ian Hamilton. Hamilton was a British Amy general who had an extensive British Imperial military career in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.
The Russo-Japanese War was fought during 1904-1905 over rival imperial ambitions in Manchuria and the Korean Empire. During this war Hamilton was the military expert of the British Indian Army serving with the Japanese army in Manchuria.
With sixteen of seventeen illustrations, with plate to face page 138 missing and thirteen of fifteen maps present, with maps to face pages 134 and 338 missing.

With sixteen pages of publisher adverts to the rear.

In full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with some marks to the boards and spine. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
