What Our Customers Say...

Description

Original Binding

These volumes chronicle the latest advances in chemical science at a time of rapid growth and explosive expansion. The volumes are handsomely bound in blue cloth and their contents remain in remarkable condition; with text, formulae, and molecular structures depicted in crisp detail. The Chemical Society of London was established in 1841. Its prominence was recognised mere years later with the granting of a Royal Charter in 1847, though it did not formally change its name to the instantly-recognisable Royal Society of Chemistry until 1980, when it merged with sister institutions including the Royal Chemical Institute and the Farady Society. Six assorted volumes, for the years 1905, 1907, 1909, 1910, 1911, and 1924.

Condition

Externally, bound in cloth. Generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. Royal blue with gilt lettering to spines. Some wear to corners of boards, and bumping to heads and tails of spine. Internally, generally firmly bound. Hinges slightly tender in three volumes. Stamp of MRC Laboratories Library to all volumes; bookplate of John Christie to some volumes. Pages bright and clean; with marginal browning and the odd instance of spotting.
