What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce work.

In the striking original navy morocco binding with gilt decoration to the front board.

A collection of the hymns sung at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin at the private chapel of the Duke of Newcastle at Clumber Park, with a total of four-hundred and seventy-four hymns in this volume.

The Church of St. Mary the Virgin is an Anglican Grade I listed church, a stunning building of both architectural and historic interest, built in the Gothic Revival style. The main house of Clumber Park was demolished in 1938 after a series of damaging fires.

This church was built by the 7th Duke of Newcastle, Henry Pelham-Clinton.

Compiled and edited by George J. Tredaway, who was the organist and director of the choir.

Condition

In the original full navy morocco binding. Externally, smart. A few light marks to the boards. Minor rubbing to the spine, mostly to the tail. The odd spot to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots.
