The Globe Edition. The collected poetry of Alexander Pope, an English poet, translator, and satirist of the Enlightenment era who is considered one of the most prominent English poets of the early eighteenth century. Edited with notes and an introductory memoir by Sir Adolphus William Ward, an English historian and man of letters. Previously held in the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. Bound by William Jackson, Aberdeen.

Condition

In the original full calf binding with gilt. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards including a light stain to bottom of boards. Light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small spot to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper with school prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Bound by William Jackson, Aberdeen.
