With 104 colour plates. Collated, complete.

A three volume pictorial depiction of Regency-era London. Colour plates, arranged alphabetically, show new and ancient buildings and meeting places, capturing the mood of London at the time.

Features collaborative illustrations between Augustus Pugin, who provided the architectural designs, and Thomas Rowlandson, who illustrated the human figures. A collaboration, with plates dating from 1801-1808. These plates were originally distributed monthly by subscription from 1808-1810. This three volume bound format, dating from 1904, is the culmination of this work and first edition thus.

Former owner's inscription, 'D. L. Cumming' appear on the front paste down of each volume.

Condition

In publisher's original quarter paper vellum binding. Bumping to the head and tail of spines and extremities, along with discoloration to spines. Some fading to the paper of the boards. Former owner's inscription to the front paste downs. Hinges slightly strained but firm at front of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. All plates accounted for and bright and clean. Pages generally bright and clean, with the odd spot
