First edition of Duchess Sarah Being the Social History of the Times of Sarah Jennings Duchess of Marlborough, in the original publisher's cloth binding. 

With glimpses of her life and anecdotes of her contemporaries in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. 

Compiled and arranged by her descendant Mrs. Arthur Colville.

Sarah Jennings was an English courtier who rose to be one of the most influential women of her time through her relationship with Queen Anne. 

With ten photogravure plates and two further illustrations. Collated, complete. 

With forty pages of publisher's catalogue to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and some light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are very bright and clean, with some light spots to the endpapers.
