The complete Volumes I-V of his Tragedies, volumes I-VI of his Poems and a biographical work on William Blake. With a frontispiece to volume V of Tragedies, to volume VI of Poems and to William Blake. With a gilt stamped crest to the front board of all volumes with the motto 'Discite Benefacere'. Algernon Charles Swinburne was an English poet, playwright novelist and critic. He wrote several novels and poetry collections. His poems have many motifs such as Ocean, Time and Death.
Condition
In uniform full calf bindings with gilt stamping to spines and to crest on front boards. Externally, generally smart. Spines have faded. Rubbing to spines, particularly to the head and tails. Loss to the head of spines to volumes IV, V of Tragedies and volumes I, II, III, IV, V and VI of Poems. Small loss to the tail of spine to volume II of Tragedies. Front hinge to volume II of Tragedies is slightly strained but firm. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with spots to the first and last few pages. The odd spot throughout.
